Job Description:

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an organized and dependable Dispatcher to coordinate and oversee the timely dispatch of shipments while supporting overall order-fulfillment operations. This role involves performing a variety of tasks including monitoring service orders, updating reports, maintaining accurate records, resolving dispatch-related issues, and ensuring a smooth and efficient logistics flow. The Dispatcher plays a key role in ensuring that performance standards are met and that all shipment activities are executed in a timely and accurate manner.

Job Type: Full-Time Permanent

Work Location:  399 Glover Rd, Hamilton, ON L0R 1P0, Canada

Workdays: Monday to Friday

Work Hours: 10:00 AM to 6:30 PM

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitor the yard entrance and manage access by responding to the buzzer and allowing authorized trucks and vans into the facility.

  • Maintain accurate records in the daily dispatch log, including:

- Tracking inbound and outbound equipment.

- Logging departure times, destinations, cargo details, and estimated return times.

- Recording carrier/truck/van activity, including arrival times, order numbers picked up, and carrier details.

  • Coordinate with operations teams to ensure efficient order processing and dispatching by:

- Scheduling carrier pickups via email as soon as orders are picked and packed.

- Transferring ready-to-ship pallets from account work zones to the staging lane, when necessary.

  • Oversee loading and unloading activities for trucks and vans at the docks.

  • Address and resolve complex operational issues; escalate unresolved issues to management with suggested solutions, when appropriate.

  • Play a key role in ensuring the timely and efficient dispatch and coordinated pickup/delivery of customer orders in alignment with established performance metrics.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma, GED, or international equivalent required.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in customer service and/or dispatch within transportation, distribution, or order-fulfillment industries.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook.

  • Strong attention to detail with fast and accurate data entry skills.
