Job Description: ​

The Operational Health & Excellence Manager steers people-led quality initiatives, turns data into insights, develops workforce improvements, creates training programs, supports leadership development, and creates action plans and solutions, from engagement, training, work measurements, coaching, and feedback. This position develops and supports multiple strategies and initiatives in the Supply Chain and Healthcare Operations.  Seeking Leadership Excellence and  Effective Employee Engagement.  The position requires assessing skills gaps, initiating, and managing change, designing micro-trainings, and delivering innovative solutions to support operational excellence.   This position partners with Operations to align our Operational Health and Excellence Strategy with a balanced leadership approach while optimizing employee performance, engagement, and culture. This position is required to do facility visits 75% of the time.  Territories/Geographies cover 3 business units and multiple states or the country of Canada. Typical territories are anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 miles, so travel and in-operation support are required.  They build, assist, and deliver programs as a part of the Operational Leadership Excellence Scope ​ This position requires an understanding of current industry standards and labor laws. The role involves ensuring compliance with labor regulations, fostering positive employer-employee relationships

This position mandates an expert in communication, proficient in transforming intricate information into captivating and visually engaging presentations, particularly tailored for senior stakeholders. The ideal candidate will embody a creative mindset, excellent communication skills, and a keen eye for detail.

Responsibilities ​

  • Coaches others and provides ongoing feedback and support to improve performance ​
  • Conducts focus groups and informational meetings to identify training and engagement needs .
  • Applies knowledge of adult learning theory and instructional design to the creation of instructional materials ​
  • Engages management leaders to source subject matter experts for training courses and improve UPS COE engagement. ​
  • Create and implement the strategy for effective employee engagement improvement at the site and business unit levels. ​
  • Develops training materials (e.g., visual aids, speaker notes, etc.) to provide training references and to ensure consistent training delivery .
  • Uses the enterprise strategy to identify the key indicators of performance for individuals, departments, and/or groups .
  • Creates measures relevant to desired results and recommends measurement methods (e.g., surveys, focus groups, observations, metrics, etc.) ​
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with employees and management. Addresses concerns, provides guidance on labor-related matters, and promotes open communication channels.  ​
  • Stays informed about changes in labor laws and industry trends, ensuring organizational practices remain compliant and proactively address any areas of concern. ​
  • Analyze employee feedback and other relevant data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Continuously evaluates effective employee engagement strategies and adjusts as necessary. ​
  • Applies cultural sensitivity when making decisions on business issues; recommends changes in the way business is conducted in different countries or geographical regions .

Qualifications Requirements:

  • Proven experience in labor relations, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and provide practical solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Needs to have a background in Employee Relations
  • Must have the ability to travel 75% of the time, (including extended over-night travel) as necessary
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite (PowerPoint, Word, Teams).
  • Ability to transform complex information into compelling and visually engaging presentations.
  • This role requires a creative mindset, excellent communication skills, and a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technical processes and tools.
  • Must have strong planning and organizational skills
  • Must have strong communication and public speaking skills
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Develop executive-level presentations for various business purposes including internal updates and stakeholder communications

Preferences:

  • Bachelor’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) - Preferred
  • Master’s Degree (or internationally comparable degree) – Organization Development – Preferred
  • Previous experience in employee relations, or labor relations roles with a focus on proactive approaches.
  • Experience in labor relations
  • Previous SCS Experience – Preferred
  • Experience developing training materials – Preferred
  • Experience delivering and evaluating training materials - Preferred
  • Project Management experience - Highly Preferred
  • Bilingual (English and French Speaking) Candidate - Highly Preferred
