Job Description:

The Automotive Technician at UPS is responsible for maintaining delivery vehicles to include the troubleshooting and maintenance/repairs various systems including hydraulic brakes, engine/transmission, electronics, and suspension. This position performs other tasks as requested.

Responsibilities:

  • Repairs all UPS gas and propane vehicles. (add CNG Vehicles)

  • Shop cleanliness and organization.

  • Ensures all vehicles are maintained regularly and in a timely manner.


Qualifications and or Requirements:

  • Experience in Diesel Engines, Vehicle Electrical and Electronic Systems, Steering, Brakes and Suspensions; and maintenance of Automatic Transmissions

  • Valid class 5 BC Driver’s License – Required

  • Automotive Service Technician Trade Certification (Certificate of Qualification/Inter-provincial Red-Seal) - Required

  • Able to lift 70 lbs./32 kgs.

  • Must be able to work Monday - Friday 5:00PM - 1:30PM

  • Able to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment and occasionally outdoors

  • Must possess the required hand tools required to perform the applicable job assignment.

  • Bends, stoops, squats, kneels, crouches, crawls, climbs ladders and stairs, stands, walks, and turns/pivots frequently throughout duration of workday 

  • Able to pass a Safety Road Test

The starting pay for this position is $38.00 per hour. For union-represented postings, wage rates and ranges and benefit offerings are governed by applicable collective bargaining agreement provisions. 

Other Incentives:

  • A steel shoes/boots allowance with a maximum payout of $250 and a tool allowance of $450, distributed in March.

Hired applicants are eligible for weekly pay, extensive training, defined-benefit pension plan, medical-dental and vision after waiting and or probation period, $0 healthcare premium, paid vacation, paid sick and family and medical leave time as required by law, paid holidays, discounted employee stock purchase program.
